Leadership

“…the concept of leadership itself is evolving away from being associated with a single leader role to informal leaders, where followers and groups exercise shared leadership to initiate transformative change”

– Eberly, Johnson, Hernandez, & Avolio

Transformational leadership is a style of influencing that elevates people to achieve extraordinary outcomes. Transformational leaders leverage the collective power of the group to align individual talent with purpose and performance. They operate from a foundation of high CQ, trust and integrity as they motivate their teams by inspiring purpose, encouraging innovation, and coaching others to unleash their potential and to achieve their agreed outcomes.

Skills can be taught via course work, but leadership behaviours are picked up, explored and lived out in the course of everyday life. Leadership Journey prides itself on careful facilitation that is highly interactive and ultimately designed to drive the outcomes agreed in the design phase. At Leadership Journey we’re all about embedment and turning theory into measurable practice.

Six popular modules, which we will tailor to your organisational context, include the following:

  1. CQ and Effective Leadership – develop a true understanding of the various roles of a leader, from transactional to relational and transformational leadership. Participate in an assessment to gauge your core strengths and areas for development.
  2. Managing Performance – know how to delegate effectively, supervise and manage accountability. We can help you to review and create a more meaningful performance feedback process too.
  3. Relationship Building and Motivation are key skills of the transformational leader. Without them, we risk becoming overly transactional, distant and unable to meaningfully connect and retain talent.
  4. Leader as Coach – Leaders who coach their staff well have a transforming effect on the individual and the organisational culture resulting in improved effectiveness as well as improved relational trust.
  5. Managing Change – ‘Change’, it is said, ‘is a constant’ and leadership, by its nature, is about ‘leading’ people into the unknown. Leading change is a crucial leadership competency. Getting change right is a major challenge for leaders face as they design change, make decisions and ‘sell’ ideas.
  6. Team Leadership – at the team level, our focus is on developing collaborative behaviours, developing the skills to have, rather than to avoid, Courageous Conversations, and Managing and Maintaining a Healthy Workplace Environment.
